“Compass” is a Bulgarian company specializing in the production of meat, meat-vegetable, vegetarian and fish sterilized products. The story began in 1996 when the company started a small enterprise of its own. Right from the start “Compass” mission was to offer high-quality foodstuff aiming at the improvement of people’s life. The title of the company however clearly illustrated its goal to offer products which would be a “compass” indicating the correct direction of advance of the subsequent market.
Due to the great interest to and the extended demand for its products, “Compass” restructured the food business a few years later. It occupied a new market niche- the sterilization of ready meals, offering favorite Bulgarian meals prepared after traditional recipes. The company introduced also the “Karo” label, offering a well-structured portfolio of qualitative products and at a good price.
Back in the year 2007, the veterinary committee of the European Union certified “Compass” to operate on the common European market. It was successfully certified pursuant to the ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management standard 22000:2005 renewing it each year. It later started the production of a new brand of baby paste binding it with a social cause. Bulgarian consumers recognized it in 2014 as the producer of paste and ready sterilized meals of the highest quality. It also launched a new production line of meatless paste “Compass Vegetal”. Performing a detailed market analysis in 2017 “Compass” entered a new niche- the production of sterilized fishery products.
The production plant is located in the small pretty village of Komarevo, North-West Bulgaria. The company operates its own production facilities under continuous control. Being a responsible company “Compass” prepares food of excellent quality. Conforming to the requirements of the European Union and to modern European standards, it performs a strict production control during each production stage. The personnel is highly qualified and experienced, unified by the idea of unconditional food quality. The company aims at satisfying customers’ expectations and needs. To develop successfully, “Compass” relies also on the effective use of resources and qualitative raw materials, on the team’s operation as a community and on loyalty to its partners.
It offers tasty meal solutions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also produces various pastes with natural sources of iron and Аят ??? vitamin. The sterilized meats are for direct consumption, and they are also appropriate for the preparation of fast food or appetizers when meeting up with friends for a drink. The ready meals are prepared following traditional Bulgarian recipes. The fishery products are a qualitative and useful alternative of fresh fish transforming eating into delight. Hence, “Compass” basic task is to give the consumers the delight of eating, pleasing them with varied and tasty food and providing them with more free time.
“Compass” was certified in 2008 in conformity with the International Food Safety Management Standard ISO 22000:2005 (certificate No ISO 22000-IS25 from 04.08.2008). Since then, the company has successfully passed recertification every three years. The standard ISO 22000 unifies the principles of the system of hazard analysis critical control point (НАССР), the steps of its implementation pursuant to Codex Alimentarius, as well as all elements of the Management System developed according to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000.
